The Last Book
This proactive print campaign came from a teary conversation with my ma. It was the holidays, and I had just come downstairs from reading a bedtime story to my niece, Stella.
I told ma how much I loved reading to Stella, how special it felt to share that story and have her hanging on each and every word as I read The Gruffalo. My mom said she knew. That she had read to me and my brother every single night for years. Until, one day, we informed her that we were too big to be read to, and would be just fine by myself. I’d had a few glasses of wine at this stage and immediately burst into tears.
That conversation became these poems, which went on to become these print ads after I shared them with my CD, Jo. Because even though I can’t go back to those nights with my ma, there is a place where I can find all the stories we read.
All the images were sourced from the family scrapbooks of the lovely people at Halo, and all the stories from my tender heart.
